Best Green Been Casserole

These are my go to recipes for green been casserole. You start with the base ingredients and then create using the optional ingredients based on your preferences or those of your guest. Some really good combinations, starting with my favorite, are:

  1. Shredded White Cheddar, Cream of Mushroom Soup, French-fried Onions, Sliced Mushrooms, Worcestershire Sauce, Topped with French-fried Onions and Shredded White Cheddar.

  2. Shredded Cheddar, Cream of Chicken Soup with herbs, Sliced Leeks, Crispy Fried Prosciutto, Worcestershire Sauce, Topped with Roasted Sliced Almonds.

  3. Shredded Mozzarella, Cream of Onion Soup, Sliced Leeks, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Fresh Thyme. Topped with Italian Panko Bread Crumbs.

  4. Torn American, Cream of Onion Soup, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Water Chestnuts, Dijon Mustard. Topped with French-fried Onions and Torn American.

  5. Shredded Provolone, Cream of Celery Soup, Crispy Fried Prosciutto, Green Onions, Worcestershire Sauce. Topped with Italian Panko Bread Crumbs.

  6. Shredded Smoked Gouda, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Crispy Fried Bacon, Green Onions, Rosemary. Topped with Italian Panko Bread Crumbs.

Options on soup:

Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Celery, Cream of Onion, Cream of Chicken with herbs

Options Cheese:

White Cheddar, Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, Smoked Gouda, Mozzarella, Provolone, or Torn American

Options on Stir-ins:

6 oz Sliced Mushrooms, 6 Slices Crisp Fried Bacon or Prosciutto, 1 cup French-fried Onions, 1 cup Sliced Leeks, 1 cup Roasted Red Bell Pepper Slices, 8 oz can Sliced Water Chestnuts, 1 cup Chopped Green Onions

Options on Seasoning:

Worcestershire Sauce, Dijon Mustard, Fresh Rosemary, Fresh thyme

Options on Topping:

French-Fried Onions,Roasted Sliced Almonds, Italian Panko Bread Crumbs, Shredded or Torn Cheese (see options above).

Ingredients

Base

  • 2 15 oz cans cut green beans, drained

  • 6 oz shredded cheese

  • 1 10.5 oz can Campbell’s condensed soup

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • Fresh ground black pepper to taste

Options (see notes above)

  • 6 oz Shredded or torn Cheese

  • Stir-ins

  • 1 tablespoon seasoning

  • 1 to 2 cups Topping

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. In large bowl combine all ingredients except topping

  3. Pour into a medium cassrole dish or cast iron skillet

  4. Bake for 25 minutes

  5. Add topping and bake for 10 more minutes
