Best White Rice Pilaf

This is a great whote rice recipe to use with almost any meal. It is also wonderfull all by itself.

Ingredients

  • Half medium yellow onion chopped

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

  • 2 bay leafs

  • 2 ¼ cups Chicken broth

  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional)

Preparation

  1. In a medium saucepan sauté onion until clear but not browned in Olive oil

  2. Add rice and stir until clear

  3. Add two or three twists of fresh ground black pepper, bay leaves, and chicken broth.

  4. Bring to a boil, cover, lower the heat to low and simmer until the water is absorbed, 20 minutes.

  5. Remove the lid and let stand for 5 minutes before removing bay leaves and fluffing with a fork.

  6. If using butter add when removing lid and let melt for the 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

  7. If serving as a side dish you can garnish with chopped chives or green onions
