Wendy’s Chili
This is a quick chili recipe based on Wendy’s chili. It is not Texas chili as it has beans. It is however very simple and easy to make. Serve with hot cornbread.
Ingredients
2 pounds ground chuck
1 29-ounce can tomato sauce
1 29-ounce can kidney beans with liquid
1 29-ounce can pinto beans with liquid
1 cup diced onion (1 medium onion)
½ cup diced green chili (2 chilies) or used the canned ones in the Mexican food section
¼ cup diced celery (1 stalk)
1 bell pepper diced
3 medium tomatoes, chopped (or a 29-ouncel can of chopped tomatoes)
2 teaspoons cumin powder
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups water
Preperation
Brown the ground beef and drain off the fat
Using a fork crumble the cooked beef into small pieces
In a large pot, combine the beef plus all the remaining ingredients
Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat. Stir every 15 to 20 minutes for 2 hours.
