Wendy’s Chili

This is a quick chili recipe based on Wendy’s chili. It is not Texas chili as it has beans. It is however very simple and easy to make. Serve with hot cornbread.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground chuck

  • 1 29-ounce can tomato sauce

  • 1 29-ounce can kidney beans with liquid

  • 1 29-ounce can pinto beans with liquid

  • 1 cup diced onion (1 medium onion)

  • ½ cup diced green chili (2 chilies) or used the canned ones in the Mexican food section

  • ¼ cup diced celery (1 stalk)

  • 1 bell pepper diced

  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped (or a 29-ouncel can of chopped tomatoes)

  • 2 teaspoons cumin powder

  • 3 tablespoons chili powder

  • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 cups water

Preperation

  1. Brown the ground beef and drain off the fat

  2. Using a fork crumble the cooked beef into small pieces

  3. In a large pot, combine the beef plus all the remaining ingredients

  4. Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat. Stir every 15 to 20 minutes for 2 hours.
